The Google icon above was used on May 09, 2010 for the 150th Birthday of J.M. Barrie. If google only used the name as a reference we would have no clue who he was, but thankfully Google provided us with some Pop Culture knowledge with their colorful depiction of Peter Pan.

We double-checked Wikipedia to confirm:

Sir James Matthew Barrie, 1st Baronet, OM (9 May 1860 – 19 June 1937) was a Scottish author and dramatist, best remembered today as the creator of Peter Pan.

There have been some mesmerizing Icons this year including one that lets us relive memories by playing Pacman and another one that contained elusive dots that would scatter at the sight of your mouse.

Check out our selection of the coolest Google icons of the year.
