Heaven Revealed: What Is It Like? What Will We Do?... And 11 Other Things You've Wondered About Paperback – March 1, 2011
Purchase options and add-ons
There are so many questions in life, but few are as universal as this: "What is the afterlife like?"
For those who have put their hope and trust in Jesus Christ here on earth, heaven awaits. Addressing questions as basic as What will we do there? and What is it like?, theologian Dr. Paul Enns dives deep into the Scriptures while reflecting on the very personal nature of what is to come.
Heaven Revealed is a helpful, easy-to-read guidebook for Christians as well as an encouragement for those of us who are left here on earth after our Christian loved ones fall asleep in the Lord. Follow along as Dr. Enns succinctly leads you through what the Bible has to say about heaven.
In grief, we all need hope—hope for our loved ones who are now gone, and hope for ourselves as eternity looms closer. Heaven should be something to look forward to, not something to be confused about.

FOR THE BACK COVER:
Often we hear that Christians spend too much time thinking about heaven. Actually, the opposite is true. Far too many of today’s believers are uninformed about heaven and fail to understand why we should be yearning for the fullness that God has for us in eternity. Paul Enns offers a corrective to our neglect of heaven in Heaven Revealed. You will be greatly blessed by this book.
Dr. R. Albert Mohler, Jr.
President, The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary

Paul Enns has thought carefully about heaven ever since his beloved wife, Helen, died unexpectedly a few years ago. The result is a book that is a wonderful blend of Biblical insight and human longings, coupled with the personal assurance that we shall meet one another again in heaven. This is a delightful read for those who have lost loved ones, and for those of us who need an injection of biblical hope during these times of worldly struggles and distress. Paul has blessed the body of Christ by opening a window into the life beyond. Just read the first few pages, and you will want to read to the end.

This book was written in the context of personal pain and loss; the death of a beloved spouse. It is marked by biblical conviction, theological faithfulness and pastoral sensitivity. Those who read it will have their minds instructed, their hearts comforted, and their wills fortified as they long to see King Jesus face to face.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 28, 2014Wow this is the best book I have ever read about the subject of heaven. It taught me many new things yet confirmed many thing I already knew or thought about heaven.
This would be a wonderful book to give a person who is terminally ill. My dad died after battling lung cancer and I know he is in heaven now. I wish I would have given him this book before he died
- Reviewed in the United States on April 16, 2015Since my husband went home to Heaven a year ago, this is, by far, the most comforting and informational and helpful book I have read and I have read about 35 books in the past year, about grief, becoming a widow, how to go on living, etc. In describing his feelings about his wife and her sudden death, Paul Enns described my feelings as well. I was so very relieved to finally find a book that truly addressed what I needed to help me cope with the loss of the love of my life as well as my very best "closest friend ever" for the past 59 years. I was feeling so lost before I read this book. My husband and I are both Christians and I was feeling "un-Christian" for being so sad. I found such great comfort in this wonderful book. Thank you Paul Enns for being a true God-send.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 19, 2011Heaven is a subject that has captivated countless number of people around the world for centuries. It is a place that conjures up a series of questions, ranging from who will enter (and who will not), location, sights, sounds, duration and activities. As a result of such questions, people have arrived at a variety of conclusions. Unfortunately, many of these conclusions have not been rooted in the witness of Scripture, and have proved to be little more than fanciful and inaccurate speculations.
With these things in mind, I was delighted to see that Dr. Paul Enns (minister through Biblical Training & Leadership Development, Idlewood Baptist Church, Tampa, Florida, and serves as professor and director of the Tampa Extension, Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary) had developed a new book on the subject.
After suddenly losing his wife Helen after 45 years of marriage, Enns went looking for answers about the afterlife. His search began and ended within the pages of Scripture and theological exploration.
Enns confronted the same questions that many of us have about the afterlife, and specifically about the prospect of heaven. He addressed these questions in this book.
Where is heaven? What kind of body will we have? What will the new heaven and earth look like? What will life be like in heaven? What will we do in heaven? What will our relationships with others be like?
The book spells out his answers to these questions in a way that is highly readable and clear. For instance, in chapter 12, he explains that, in continuity with our earthly life, we will retain our distinctive identities in heaven, and will be known as we are now. The idea then lends itself to a further conclusion that we will also be reunited with loved ones who have gone before us. These ideas and many others like them make the book very interesting and thought-provoking.
Though at times it seemed like he was over-extending himself in certain areas, making `claims into certainties' based on one or two passages from Scripture, and in turn making general statements into sweeping actualities for everyone, I still appreciated his sincere attempt to grapple with the issues in a fair and reasonable way.
I recommend this book to everyone looking for answers about the prospect of the afterlife in general, and the hope of heaven in particular. You may at times disagree with certain ideas, but the book overall will help to instill hope and peace about life after death and generate a longing to one day spend an eternity in a place where death and decay will be no more.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 11, 2012Paul Enns does an excellent job of compiling scripture to give an insightful view of Heaven and the New Earth. He is obviously very knowledgeable in the Bible and in the Greek and Hebrew language. He blends intellect with conversational style. His personal story emphasizes his passion for the subject. My story is similar to his and so for me this book was a God send. I have bought it for people that are grieving and I have bought it for those wanting to understand a scriptural view of Heaven. It is one of the two books that I recommend it to anyone wanting to learn more about Heaven.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 14, 2017This is a very good read. I wanted to know more about Heaven. It was easy to read and understand. I have shared this with others who have also enjoyed it.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 7, 2014A bunch of gals from a local church thought, "What can we do to fight the winter shut in?" They decided to have a book club which meets once a month and discuss one book each month. Well my friend invited me to join them. Being a Christian I would say Heaven Revealed is a good book to understand the new earth and heaven. it sites a lot of scripture and repeats it's findings thru out the book. I give it three and a half stars. Enjoy.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 6, 2013Really enjoyed and appreciated how this book revealed what Heaven will be like. Especially liked the part where it talks about how our loved ones will recognize us when we get there. I can't wait to see what my son looks like at whatever age and maturity level God is going to make him.

5.0 out of 5 stars Heaven is our home!
For those Christians who have been bereaved this book provides a number of scriptural answers to the many questions that arise concerning the departed. Surprisingly many Christians have a vague and fuzzy notion of what heaven is like. Some have little joy in anticipating heaven because of this. Paul Enns gives a comforting insight into our future home, describing it in earthly terms which we can understand, but with everything enhanced to a degree we have only faintly experienced on earth. In reading this book it not only makes one look forward to heaven, but it creates a great desire to share the gospel with those who do not know Jesus Christ as their Saviour and Lord. If God is not willing that any should perish, then we too should be concerned for the salvation of others, especially of course those of our own families. Strongly recommended.
