The Sin Collector: Thomas Kindle Edition
Thomas has taken vows. As an immortal, he is impervious to harm on the battlefield. As a Collector, he alone can take away the sins of the fallen and allow them to move peacefully into the next life.
But valor never comes without sacrifice.
Far away from combat is his home, and her name is Lucy. Lucy is a human and frail from the explosion that nearly took her life, but Thomas’s duty pulls him from her before she can recover. His letters are his only connection to her, and to her caretaker, Thomas’s best friend Emmilina.
Thomas has gone to War for his God and for honor but there is an even more personal mission that drives him.
He will find other Collectors, and tell them the secrets he has learned.

Sarcasm and Lemons Indie Review
"Fortunato takes a little-known myth and makes it her own. With all the allure of vampires but none of the blood sucking."
A Life Among The Pages
"Some fast paced stories can easily be read and forgotten. With Thomas there is nothing lost along the way."
Trip The Eclipse Blog
"Though this was really a character driven story, it moved me."
J. Scott Sharp, Author
"Setting the story during a war was a stroke of brilliance on Fortunato's part."

About the author

Jessica Fortunato writes a rare combination of Paranormal/ Supernatural/ Religious Literary Fiction. She lives in Pennsylvania with her family, a clumsy black cat, and year round Halloween decorations. Rarely seen in direct sunlight, reports of Jessica’s vampirism remain unsubstantiated.

Although I truly enjoyed this sequel, I was disappointed that it was so short because I was drawn into the story from the beginning. It is well-written, and has a great and different premise. I would recommend both these books, and hope the author is busy writing more of the same since, I believe, there's plenty of scope to expand on the original story.
I have to admit there are certain things that could be improved upon. There were parts of the book that were slightly confusing to me because I wasn't sure about the timeline. The book explores the three different periods of his life, but they are really mixed and I sometimes found myself a bit lost at the beginning of a chapter until about the second paragraph or even a bit further. I think Jessica Fortunato could easily improve on that in the other books of the series just to keep things a bit more clear.
Still, despite that small critique I really enjoyed the story and the writing! I really like her style and I can't wait for more!
It was interesting to learn of Thomas' history, it brought out an entirely different side of him than what you see in book 1. From the jolly man to the man torn between his duty as a Collector and to the one he holds most precious. Another reason why it is highly recommended to read The Sin Collector before beginning with Thomas.
It was really fascinating to have read more of the rituals behind the protection symbol. What I also loved were the flashback scenes. And I really adored Cricket a lot. And Em, the ever so supportive friend any could ask for.
I really enjoyed reading it, and can I say I fell in love with Thomas even more after this. Can't wait for the next in the series !
