Woman arrested for murder
Bathinda:The local police have arrested a 50-year-old woman Shanti Kaur for murdering one Narinjan Singh (42) in Narsingh Colony,Doomwali,on Thursday night. Shanti allegedly laced his liquor with celphos. Baldev Singh,investigating officer,said the deceased hailed from Faridkot Kotli village and had been living with Shanti for many years. Irked by his demand for money for alcohol,she decided to kill him,he added.

Fire at HDFC branch in Jalandhar
JALANDHAR: Some documents and computers at the HDFC bank branch near Sky Lark Hotel were gutted after a fire broke out at the third floor around 1.30 pm on Friday. It took the firemen around two hours to bring the flames under control. The cause of fire is said to be short circuit.Bank authorities said though some documents were destroyed in the fire,there was no loss of data as there is an online backup. Also,there was no loss of cash as all the dealings were done at the lower floor. All staff members were evacuated safely. Jatinder,circle manager,said the amount of loss is yet to be estimated.
