Try this tip when you need to reset the Zoom and Pan commands.

Leonid Nemirovsky sends us a tip on resetting the Zoom and Pan commands.

"From time to time, when performing the Zoom command in AutoCAD, I stumble into a small problem. At a certain point it stops zooming out or panning. To resolve this problem, simply execute a Regen or Regenall at the Command prompt, and zooming and panning will resume."

Notes from Cadalyst Tip Patrol: From time to time you will need to zoom out farther than your drawing extents, but AutoCAD won't let you. The same situation occurs with the Pan command. Executing a Regen or Regenall resets the zoom and pan abilities.

Another way is click on the (+) icon on your toolbar if you are trying to Zoom Out. If you were trying to Zoom In, then click on the (-) icon on your toolbar. You should be able to Zoom Out for awhile (or Zoom In).

Whenever I have run into this same situation I simply zoom again to 0.5 or 0.2 and it resets the limits of the drawing extents. ie: zoom [enter] .5 [enter]

I have the same problem mostly with Zoom Window. I constantly remind myself to pick the first corner, count to 2, then pick the second corner. Usually works. Going to try your tip for sure.
