Transfer text from a word processing program to AutoCAD.

Frequent tipster Leonid Nemirovsky explains how to quickly transfer notes or other text from Microsoft Word (or any other word processing program) into AutoCAD.

"First, create some simple text — just a couple of properly formatted lines — in the drawing as a template for your notes. Then open the Word document that contains the notes you want to insert into your drawing. Highlight and copy the notes, then in AutoCAD type PasteSpec on the Command line (or whatever method you like to initiate the command). Scroll down to Text and paste it into your drawing. Now use the MatchProp command, pick your template for the notes, and then just insert the text."

Notes from Cadalyst Tip Patrol:
All drawing sets need text. There are many ways to get text into your drawings; one method is to type it in, but it's better to just copy it. If you copy text out of a Word file and try to paste it into your AutoCAD file, it will paste as an OLE object. That's why you need to use the PasteSpec command; it will let you paste your text as text.
