Amid rumors that the new leadership of The View might be looking to bring back former co-hosts Joy Behar and Sherri Shepherd amidst sagging ratings, Shepherd will make her debut as a guest on rival The Talk. Shepherd is set to appear on The Talk on December 1 just as the CBS talk show has been steadily closing the ratings gap with the once-dominant The View, recently tying the ABC show in the women demos and logging its most competitive finish in total viewers.
Shepherd was among the guests on the April 2012 edition of Good Morning America when the ABC program beat longtime morning leader Today in the ratings for the first time in 16 years. It will be interesting to see whether she will have the same good-charm effect for The Talk.
Shepherd’s booking on The Talk comes on the heels of Behar making a return to The View as guest last week, promoting her one-woman show. Her appearance was very well received, triggering speculations that she, and possibly Shepherd, may be wooed to return on a more regular basis in face of the ratings challenges the The View‘s new panel has faced this fall.
Shepherd recently made her Broadway debut in Cinderella, playing the first black stepmother, she co-stars in Chris Rock’s anticipated comedy feature, Top Five, and is set for an arc on TV Land’s Soul Man.
