Powerful Crowdfunding Tools to Build a Crowd & to Reach Media Outlets

A revolution is happening. Every day, entrepreneurs in hiding are starting to come out of the shadows and embrace their newfound passion for leaving their mark on the world. Crowdfunding is the mechanism that is allowing them to do so. One of the largest barriers to entry for entrepreneurs and startup companies is that they do not have access to capital. That barrier is now becoming less of one as more and more people uncover the secrets of crowdfunding success.

So what is the secret to crowdfunding success? It starts with education. One of the biggest questions that I hear from newly minted crowdfunding enthusiasts is, “where do we start?” Answering that question has been a significant part of my life the last few years as I developed a tool to provide a solution.

Krowdster is an analytics app used to research, optimize, and discover crowdfunding campaign metrics on projects from the top crowdfunding websites on the web including Kickstarter, Indiegogo, Tubestart, Rockethub, and Pozible. These analytics are invaluable for project creators who are interested in learning the secrets behind the success of crowdfunding campaigns within their category. Today’s blog discusses the Crowd Builder and Media Outreach tools.

Crowd Builder

The Crowd Builder app is one of the most powerful tools that Krowdster provides. With social media being foreign and overwhelming to most first time project creators, this tool makes it easy for anyone at any level to enjoy the immediate networking effects of these five major platforms: Twitter, Facebook, Google+, Reddit, Tumblr.

As we transition to the Media Outreach tool in a moment, a final element of the Crowd Builder tool is that is shows you all the websites that have previously driven traffic to a crowdfunding project. Our tool is capable of identifying all the websites that have backlinks and makes it readily available for you to visit those sites and contact the site owners to pitch your own project. This is very powerful and gives you a direct route to potentially relationships and press for your project and campaigns. When used correctly during the pre-launch process, it will ultimately deliver a huge boost of traffic to your campaign page and hopefully translate into funding for your endeavors.

Media Outreach

How it works:

  1. Write a journalist pitch for your project and submit it in the form below. You can send one outreach per 30 days.
  2. Krowdster will send automated emails containing your press release.

What if a journalist has a question?
Messages have your email address set as the “Reply to” address. Journalists can reach you by replying to the email.

Want to make your media outreach and press initiatives a heck of a lot easier? The Media Outreach tool within the Krowdster app does exactly that. The Crowd Builder tool is great to identify outlets with backlinks, but the Media Outreach tool sends a direct email from you as the project creator to the top media outlets in the country who are writing about your specific topic category.

The beauty of this tool is that it is not a one size fits all media list that is provided to the project creators. It is actually specific to the category that the campaign is geared towards. As noted below, there are 13 categories to fit virtually any kind of crowdfunding project.

Once you select the category, the last piece of the process includes developing a catchy subject line and developing the press release to go within the actual email. We recommend either seeking help from a friend who is good at writing, hiring professional help, or simply looking up press releases online through PR Web or Market Wired so you can see what similar companies have sent out as a press release for their endeavors. We cannot stress this enough, success leaves clues and so you do not need to recreate the wheel when doing something for the first time. Once you are satisfied with the email, all you have to do is hit submit and click send a copy of the email to yourself, and the Krowdster platform does the rest and sends out the release to the category specific media list.

Not all the publications will get back to you but you may also be granted opportunities to become a guest blogger on other websites and this would be a fantastic way for you to get a ton of coverage on some high impact channels. Be prepared to tell your story appropriately. Have a couple of articles in your back pocket so that if a journalist asks you for examples of your work you are ready to give it to them. In summary, this is not a passive process to get press. Often times, you have to follow up multiple times on multiple channels in order to get the attention that your project deserves.

Ultimately, we hope that these two powerful tools from the Krowdster App, that of the Crowd Builder and Media Outreach Tool, will give you the relationship building and press outreach that your project most certainly deserves. Do not use these tools passively. It is the hard work of following up with people, responding to messages, and building the relationships with the people who can help you that will reveal the true power that you now hold at your fingertips. Good luck!

This is a great way to raise capital for new ideas that may be outside of the normal slate. It's been done with movies, music, fundraising, etc., and it's just going to get bigger. Giving the people what they want (or need) is a win/win.
