20 Books That Made You Fall in Love with Reading
Remember when you just didn't get what made reading wonderful? (You were probably a child, so don't be too hard on yourself.) Books were just glued together stacks of paper until the day the right one fell into your lap and—not to be hyperbolic or anything—everything changed.
Last week we asked on Facebook and on Twitter: What was your first favorite book? Today we've got your top answers. Did yours make the list?

Fairy Tales!!!! I was reading in pre-school I borrowed books from the daycare all the time >.< I also looovvveed A Little Princess when I was little.
Harriet the Spy. I went around for months imagining myself as Harriet, keeping notebooks and pretending I was just like her.
Lois wrote: "Anne of Green Gables"
same here! I loved that series as a kid and read each book over and over again.

Gone with the Wind. As a 13 year old I was surprised how engrossing a book could be. I couldn't put it down!
I would have to agree with the Anne of Green Gables series along with Little House on the Prairie series but even before reading those, I loved the Mandie books by Lois Gladys Leppard. As a child, whenever my parents went to the book store, they would have to limit me on the number of books I could get (normally 2) and at least one would be a "Mandie" book. :-)
Island of the Blue Dolphins and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. How can you have a list like this and not include Roald Dahl?
I hated reading when I was a kid, until I found Harriet the Spy. I loved that book so much that I have been reading ever since!
Jane Eyre. I was in grade school and just kept re-reading it. Also in 6th or 7th grade, "I Married Adventure", a book not many people have heard of. It told the story of a photographer Martin Johnson who traveled through Africa in the early part of the 20th Century. His wife Osa traveled with him and wrote of their adventures. It stimulated my love of travel and cultures.
Too many Little Golden Books (like The Little Red Hen), Dr. Seuss books, and so many others (like the books + cassettes kits that told you to "turn the page") got me into reading. (Yeah, I'm that old.) I've never not liked reading. And I liked too many to have a real favorite.
The Monster at the End of the Book.
Ramona the Pest.
The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe.
So much awesome, so many fit, but one I don't see that fell into my favorites as a kid in the 80s, The Phantom Tollbooth. GREAT list, GR.

I read the entire Little House on the Prairie series over and over and over, and loved it more each time.
Annabel And Bryony
The Far Distant Oxus
Both unusual books, both much loved and read more than once!
- and 'Heidi', definitely.

ANYTHING by L.M. Montgomery. Anne's stories changed my life....for the better. I do not know what I would have done had I not read that series. <3
