I have books with me all the time, I read in bed, out hiking in car on road trips, and camping, read whenever I have down time.

I did my vacation reading - because i read in any time of year - by the pool, thus contributing to boost up the 5% rate, read over 500 pages from the 2 books i took with me.

But i have a summer full of opportunities to increase that average.

I read all the time in all places. On the deck, by the pool, in bed, in my car, at lunch, before I go to sleep, etc. I love to read and do it any chance I get. Having a Kindle has made that easier to do.

I love reading in the summer its relatively quiet at work so i can have a pdf book on my computer, I have a audiobook for when im out with the dog and read another book when im chilling at home. My most productive reading time of the year!! :)

I read all the time. I have a little ipod that I use for reading only. When it dies I use my tablet, when my tablet dies I switch back to my ipod.

I read all the time, in all seasons, in all places... prefer books that are more than 100 less than a 1000 pages.... Longer the book longer the journey or adventure

My Summer Reading habits are just like my rest-of-the-year reading habits. That is, I read books 365 days a year.

I always have a book I'm reading in my Kindle (usually one only available in hardback) for doctors offices, etc. as well as a paperback for home and juggle them. As with the other comments, I read all year. And maybe my summer reading is lighter usually. I say usually because it is summer yet i'm reading A Little Life which contradicts what I just said.

I hide in bed from my kids and read during the summer.

I read everywhere all the time. At the beach. At the park. In the car. On the train. On my sofa. On my bed. At lunch. I'm always reading, either on my kindle (which I love!!!) or the hard copies. Whether or not the books are good is another story, but I'm game to find out.

Reading on a cold winters day wrapped in a comfy blanket is just fine and dandy to me. This summer heat drives me bananas.

My reading goes 50/50. I mean 50% of my reading is done on bus, on my way to work and the other 50% is also divided, in half, 25% on Kindle and 25% either in bed or outside on the patio. This way, since I cannot settle for only one single book to read, I'll be reading like 2 or three. :)

Kindle! What else? On my balcony, in bed, on the beach, lost somewhere outdoors.
Since I've read The Wars of Light and Shadow and I am patiently waiting for the next book of A Game of Thrones, it may be the perfect time for another epic fantasy series, like The Black Company or Malazan Book of the Fallen.

Six to ten ebooks or paperback, on the couch or in bed or sometimes in a hammock or lawnchair. I like books that take me out of this world or that make me laugh or that have fascinating characters and strong dialog.

My reading slows down slightly in the summer but I joined more readathons in the summer - also I take less baths in the summer so less reading/bath time, also less reading outdoors. BUT I read more in bed and on the couch in the summertime to escape the heat

I love reading all the time. I read mainly in bed but always have my Kobo handy for doctors' appointments or anywhere I have a free moment, and a coffee sitting outside in the little bit of sun we get in Ireland is bliss.

I would just add that some of us read old hardbacks!

One place I can't read is by water, even though my kids are now adults. Seen too many close calls with young kids so I just can't relax.

Unfortunately i had only 2 weeks summer vacation this year.
I was able to read 2 books, but luckily there is still couple months of summer left.
(even though I'm spending most of my days working..)
I got few new books from summer sales and i'm going to spend all
the time i have outsude work to finish them.

That's so true. It's cold in Brazil right now.

I am blissfully retired, and due to a career of working during the night and having mild insomnia, I get to read anytime I want to. I do have one problem, though: fitting reading in with crocheting/knitting while watching movies on-line. I wish I could read while crocheting/knitting (my daughter can). I could read 150 books instead of 75 each year.

I read in bed, on the sofa, on my garden chair at my massive table, at cafes, on the train, on the tube, at the doctors, on holiday.
As I want to become a Lawyer I aim to read as much as possible; I literally cannot [learn] to read too much or too thoroughly. I need to master learning zillions of Cases, Statutes as well as read Massive text books.

Yeah, I've just started my winter holidays.

As Otávia said, winter is some places at the moment.

Schools have winter break in Australia right now. That means more reading in bed at night as I don't have to get up early to get the kids to school.

Else from that, I read at the table, on the porch when it's sunny, in my lunch break, in waiting rooms....and so do my kids. Our doctor offered to surgically remove my 13-year old son's book from his hand

I don't really have a typical pattern to follow, I just read whatever book I found interesting, and wherever I am, even at home.

paperbacks, hardcover or on my kindle
depends on the book(s)... usually like them longer but short ones are good too. I like ones that bring me to a different world, mystery and also typical summer reads.. things with beaches on the cover etc I can read anywhere. Rather be at the lake or outdoors in general.

I tend to buy handbags on how well they will fit a standard sized hardback book....I even have my own library at home. Reading is like eating crisps, you can't have only one.

Exactly like me! Although when I am traveling out of my country, I usually take my Kindle with me! It's so much easier to carry as many books as you like during the vacation! And there is enough space for other luggage!

My summer reading habits are the same as my everytime reading habits as I don't have such thing as holidays. (German college students in some major subjects have to spent all the time when there are no classes on research papers and exams during what others call college holidays :( ). But when it's too hot, I'm reading outside with my feet in a small children's pool full of ice cold water.

I carry my kindle with me all the time, with 100 plus books I always have something to read and thinking about the next one.

I am proud of my home library too. :)

I actually read less in the summer because I work longer days and because I'm a gardening addict. But I still read everyday, whenever I can find a minute. I always have a book with me in case a get a few minutes to read. I tend to read more non-fiction nowadays because it seems to lend itself better to shorter snatches of reading. Usually I find it harder to tear myself away from novels. After reading a lot of food books in the late spring and early summer, I felt the need for some history and am now reading Cokie Robert's "Capital Dames."

My summer reading is pretty much the same as my year round reading. I read in bed, on the couch, wherever really. :) I have been doing a library program lately in addition to my yearly challenge and have been doing a lot of reading lately. I am totally not a beach reader though. All that sand! :( give me my comfy bed any day.

Fake me: Yay!!! It's summer vacation so I'm gonna go to the beach, go to some amusement parks, be active, go to that local icecream shop down the road, maybe even look for buried treasure. But I'm definitely not gonna waste this summer!!!

Real me: *Lives in bedroom. Reads books for the entire summer, becoming unresponsive to phone calls, and using no communication to the outside world other than Goodreads.com. Sleeps, eats junk food, and stays up till the AM reading books. Wasted summer? Pffffft, no way.*

I think people missed the first sentence - what will you be reading this summer and I was looking forward to reading those comments. So here is mine. I am working my way through the Joe Gunther series by Archer Mayor in between other books. Am going to tackle The Luminaries by Eleanor Catton and lots more including Bailey and Man Booker prize nominees.
