DETROIT - Sept. 8, 2014 - PRLog -- With 39% of drivers in a recent survey indicating that in-car technology is important when deciding which car to purchase, and the ‘connected car’ services sector expected to see growth nearly 21 times that of traditional mobile voice and data services thru 2018, the use of mobile/wireless technologies in all sectors of the transportation industry are gaining widespread attention by companies, government and consumers. As a result, Mobile Monday Detroit will present ‘Mobile in Transportation’ at its next event on September 15th at 5:30 p.m. at Compuware in Detroit.

Topics discussed will include:

-  Use of mobile/wireless technologies across the broad scope of next-generation transportation systems
-  The auto industry’s focus on the ‘Connected Car’ and opportunities provided by the ‘Internet of Things’
-  An overview of the M-1 Rail Streetcar Project and the way wireless technologies will be used in the project’s vehicles and systems
-  HMI (Human-Machine Interface) that can anticipate driver’s needs, leveraging of infotainment API’s, and combining behavioral data & driver preferences for increased features/functionality

Presenters will include:

-  Tim Yerdon, Vice-president of Design, Marketing & Connected Services, Visteon
