Friday Bird Droppings: The bucket full of bubblegum edition

Kevin Gausman may finally be turning into a beast for the Orioles - and it sounds like he knows it. The A's are coming to town, and for some reason they're still looking at Kyle Lohse.

Evan Habeeb-USA TODAY Sports

The Orioles won their series against the Yankees to leave the so-called Bronx Bombers wallowing in the division cellar at 9-17 and reclaim a share of first place. Last night's game featured the return of Zach Britton, the inspired hustle of Hyun Soo Kim and a downright dominating performance from Kevin Gausman. This weekend, the A's come to town. Are there any A's left that have a beef with Manny Machado or are they all Blue Jays now?

Gausman looks like a different pitcher this year. Definitely a little more savvy and polish to complement the power.

On this day in 1974, the Orioles defeated the A's 6-3. A's pitcher had gone 385 consecutive games without making an error. Good omen? On this day in 2012...well...this happened. Hall of famer Robin Roberts passed away on this day 2010.

It's the birthday of Gerardo Parra, possibly one of my least favorite deadline acquisitions since Eric Byrnes (Boo-urns?). Mike Kinkade, part of the return from the Mets in the Mike Bordick deadline day trade of 2000 (parse THAT one out), also celebrates a birthday today.
