FOX LAKE, Ill. — There’s a new and unusual hire at the Fox Lake Police Department: The private detective who investigated the police department will now be a part of the force.

Private detective Jimmy Lee was originally brought in to look into the police chief. Lieutenant Joe Gliniewicz killed himself, and the chief resigned, since the investigation began in August.

A spokesman says it makes perfect sense to hire someone who acquired an intimate understanding of the police department.

The village is hiring Lee to be deputy chief.
