Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

Maranatha
Morning dear bro!
Pm! 🤠
Joy in the Morning, WP💓
This was seen on the back of a big rig in huge beautiful letters as it moved through an unnamed city…
“A blood donor saved my life. His name is Jesus Christ. Lord of lords, King of kings”
Good morning to everyone and blessings to all🙏
Good Morning Betsy!
That big rig would be thing of beauty to see! ❤️
Spreading the word, mile after mile.💓
Good morning, Betsy and Cat! This is the day that the Lord hath made, let us rejoice and be glad in it! ❤️
Good Morning grandpa!
It’s truly a glorious day with the Lord by your side ❤️ and he sends all of you (lurkers and non-lurkers) to remind us(me)that he’s there 🥰 Love you all, especially Solomon. 😘
Love back at you, Cat.
Good afternoon, G. The day is getting away from me. neighbourhood Wal-Mart to shop and of course converse with all who work there, hugs for and from all…then laundry. A stimulating and rejuvenating cup of coffee awaits. I hope all is well with you. A splash of rain yesterday. Praying for a good downpour soon.
The morning got away from me, too, Bet. We ended up with the nipper last night. His parents showed up close to 10 last night and he decided he wanted to spend the night here. So this morning we had to take him back to his parents, had a breakfast in Fredericksburg and finally are back at home.
Yesterday our 21 yo granddaughter was in a 3 car collision. Praise the Lord, she was not hurt, only her car was totaled. So quite an excitement around here.
Jeesh
Oh NO!!!!!!!!!! I’m so glad she’s all right,.G🙏 Thank the Bless-ed Lord.
And, G…I know exactly what that feels like.
On the eve of his 21st birthday, our son who was in a terrible place and no doubt having put away a few, overturned his car three times on a country road, which then ended up in a ditch upside down There were no other cars on the rural road. He walked away unscathed.
After another 6 years, he turned his life around completely, ditching alcohol. … the rest of his climb out of the abyss through military service, technical training and family I have told a couple of times here and elsewhere.
My point is that there is no doubt whatsoever for me…or him…that God Himself kept him safe. He should have been injured, perhaps badly. I know this as certainly as I know He was watching over your granddaughter.
And as I rejoice of His loving protection of my now 41 year old son, so do I rejoice that she is all right.🙏
Cars can be replaced…a loved and precious granddaughter cannot. Deo gratias💓
Hi Bet n FC! 🤠
Evening, Frank. I hope you are doing splendidly, as wed say across the pond🤗

Yoga Cat 😊
Slutty, weak pink underpaw, one puny scratch nail, no camo strips, easy to catch, look like human Fang, Fang !
Mungrel you crack me up!
Wow, no snake bite then !
Coolcobra !
Pardon my interruption mungrel. I posted some viewable info on mp for you. Just wanted to cover all bases, letting you know here 😉
Major minor reply 😒 !
No understand 🤷♀️
But hey, here’s some night music, if you want it. If not, no harm, no foul. 😎
One more . . .
I was curious what the words were that I thought she always slurs when singing Willin. Everything else is distinct. And found that the song was written before the song writer formed Little Feat.
Garrison knows all.
The words by the way were Alice, Dallas Alice. Not all that slurred.
What are the whites in weed, whites and wine? Amphetamines? Or is it broader?
Amphetamines. Given that it’s a trucker’s lyrics.
Crosstops…truckers used to avoid white line fever back in the day.
For a second there I thought you would leave off ‘Willin’, a fav of mine. Something about those lyrics does it for me.
Yep. Especially if you were there at the time . . . 🙂
One of the most underrated bands, but one that simply must be listened to.. again and again.
And one more from Little Feat, one with a much different vibe and beat
Little Feat – Let It Roll (Video) – YouTube
Great video. Almost ZZTop . . . 🙂
I love the smell (and sound) of Little Feat in the morning…. 🎵 🤓 🎵
Couldn’t find the right place to respond to this…so here goes : Doobie Bros last cut on the Living on the fault line…thought of you!!!:
It’s not Flamenco but happy!!!!!!!
Sounds like Travis pickin’. Thanks Leenie!
St Benedict of Nursia
His name, Benedictus, means “Blessed” in Latin. He was born in 480 in Nursia, a small town northeast of Rome. He had only rudimentary schooling: he wrote later of his fear that through book-learning he might ‘lose the great understanding of my soul.’ At an early age he fled to a monastery where he was tonsured; he then withdrew to a remote mountain, where he lived or several years in a cave, perfecting himself in prayer. His only food was some bread brought to him by Romanus, the monk who had tonsured him. When he became known in the area, he fled his cave to escape the attentions of the pious; but flight proved useless, and in time a community of monks formed around him. He was granted many spiritual gifts: he healed the sick and drove out evil spirits, raised the dead, and appeared in visions to others many miles away.
Benedict founded twelve monasteries, most famously that at Monte Cassino. Initially, each monastic house had twelve monks, to imitate the number of the Twelve Apostles. The Rule that he established for his monks was based on the works of St John Cassian and St Basil the Great, and became a standard for western monasteries. Thus he is sometimes called the first teacher of monks in the West.
Six days before his death, the Saint ordered that his grave be opened, gathered all his monks together, gave them counsel, then gave his soul back to God on the day that he had predicted. At the moment of his death, two monks in different places had the same vision: they saw a path from earth to heaven, richly adorned and lined on either side with ranks of people. At the top of the path stood a man, clothed in light and unspeakably beautiful, who told them that the path was prepared for Benedict, the beloved of God. In this way, the monks learned that their abbot had gone to his rest.
Good Morning Lonestar!
Thank you for this beautiful reminder of Benedict. I’m in awe of the fact:
“ Six days before his death, the Saint ordered that his grave be opened, gathered all his monks together, gave them counsel, then gave his soul back to God on the day that he had predicted.”
Gave his soul back to God. ☺️ I like the sound of that.
Mornin’ FC.
Yes, the early Christians had a different mindset than we do in the West today. They cultivated the nous, or the eye of the soul, our capacity to perceive spiritual things. Over time, in the West, this was supplanted by intellectual reasoning, which leads to a very different view of the world. The Orthodox church still teaches mystical theology today. Dr. Carlton can explain it much better than I:

Thank you Lonestar. I’ll listen this evening. 😉
Good morning, Lonestar💓
I’m working to imagine such a path and thinking no matter how splendid I may see it, the actual vision must have been overwhelming. Thank you for this lovely short offering.
Bore da, Betsy.
The birthplace of Benedict, Nursia or Norcia in Italy, was hit by a large earthquake a few years ago. The ancient church that sat on the site was destroyed (except for a statue of Mary that miraculously survived). The monks living in the monastery there were all saved, but left without a home. They have been rebuilding in the interim.
P.S. They also make great beer, or so I hear.

I wonder if my British friend, who takes a yearly sabbatical to Assisi (or did until travel was restricted over the past two years) has visited Norcia, as it’s not far from Assisi I have just messaged him to check. I’m looking forward to your links, LS…thank you😊
He has answered.. and surprise!! The ruins just outside of Llangollen, the town where I worked in North Wales, and which I posted about a week ago or slightly more than, he says was a Benedictine monastery (he believes)…Valle Crucis Abbey. That I did not know and will confirm.
He has sent me pictures of San Pietro in Assisi, which is one of the monasteries, and I can tell you they are magnificent. Very simple of course and the paintings within them are breathtaking. He mentions St. Antimo, a ruined one now restored. On my way to look them both up.
Wow. thanks for the update
You are most certainly welcome😊
Good morning, Lonestar!
Afternoon, Grandpa! Glad to hear all is well in your extended family. Glory to God.

HEAR US FATHER, WHEN WE PRAY
We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies.
For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have? But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.
In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.
— Romans 8:22-27, WEB
1. Hear us, Father, when we pray, through Your Son and in Your Spirit.
By Your Spirit’s Word convey all that we through Christ inherit.
That as baptized heirs we may truly pray.
2. When we know not what to say and our wounded souls are pleading,
May Your spirit, night and day, groan within us interceding;
By His sighs too deep for words, we are heard.
3. Jesus advocate on high, sacrificed on Calvary’s altar,
Through Your priestly blood we cry: hear our prayers, though they may falter.
Place them on Your Father’s throne as Your own.
4. By Your Spirit now attend to our prayers and supplications,
As like incense they ascend to Your heavenly habitations.
May their fragrance waft above, God of love.
Let’s remember to pray for each other. God has promised He will pay attention, and He keeps His promises.
Amen 🙏
That was exquisite 1530!
Listened as I watched the predawn sky, filled with stars, Jupiter shining, and a preview of a full moon coming soon. Personally, it was a perfect way to reflect on what paths the Lord will guide me today.
May your day be blessed with all good things God. ❤️
Good morning, Cat💓 For me, there is truly nothing which brings home how great God is than looking up into a darkened sky filled with celestial creations…some visible, most not. But realizing how infinitesimal I, we, really are. Extremely humbling.
All blessings to you, sweet friend🤗
Howdy Betsy.
I couldn’t reply more today as I was working in the rain and only stopped because it got to heavy.
A quick look I seen your post and replied , I have a mind dictionary on the subject being discussed and would of contributed the Irish way much more.
12.19 here 16/03/2022.
The day before date is your date ! ( not hubby) 😂 !
Seems some confusion with date lines here.
Well all I can say is “I’ve always been ahead of the times” ! 😊
Cheers tomohalk.
Hey, friend!💓 Please send some of that rain our direction! We are so unusually dry.
It’s called forward thinking, I think. Or trendsetting if you prefer. I’ll have to go back and check on what you posted…memory like a sieve, me.
My son, speaking of Irish, turns 41 on St Paddy’s Day. I’m having a hard time taking in that he’s that old, which makes.me.even older!! A real hard slap of reality. Blessings always, Mungrel🙏….LBT and how!
Greetings!🤠
Good morning, 1530.💓
Romans which you post mirrors my prayers in part last night remarkably. I suspect most of us here are always praying for others.🙏 Blessings to you.
Good morning, 1530! I have experienced the Spirit interceding for me with groans which cannot be uttered. On the night before my newborn granddaughter was facing what turned out to be a 7.5 hours major surgery, I was so numb, I couldn’t even pray. Deep inside my soul I felt the Holy Spirit interceding for me.
Praise be to God for His indescribable love for us!
And you were heard, G, because of course you were.🤗
The song “Awesome God” keeps playing in my head.

This guy does a decent job explaining many of the varied historical influences on Ukraine via his travel reminiscing.
Ukraine: On the Fault Line Between East and West (quillette.com)
This is the article’s lynch-pin statement. Change doesn’t pla7 favorites. Ukraine is now Western and western civilization created the modern world. Thanks for posting this . . .
Ukrainian nationalism may have been muted before, smothered beneath Russia’s tyrannical internationalism as Belarussian nationalism remains to this day. But with the onset of the Russian invasion, Ukrainian nationalism and its clear expression as part of a larger European identity has burst into the open with the power of a hydrogen bomb.
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow, that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ.
AMEN.

The Discipline of Dismay
As they followed they were afraid. —Mark 10:32
At the beginning of our life with Jesus Christ, we were sure we knew all there was to know about following Him. It was a delight to forsake everything else and to throw ourselves before Him in a fearless statement of love. But now we are not quite so sure. Jesus is far ahead of us and is beginning to seem different and unfamiliar— “Jesus was going before them; and they were amazed” (Mark 10:32).
There is an aspect of Jesus that chills even a disciple’s heart to its depth and makes his entire spiritual life gasp for air. This unusual Person with His face set “like a flint” (Isaiah 50:7) is walking with great determination ahead of me, and He strikes terror right through me. He no longer seems to be my Counselor and Friend and has a point of view about which I know nothing. All I can do is stand and stare at Him in amazement. At first I was confident that I understood Him, but now I am not so sure. I begin to realize that there is a distance between Jesus and me and I can no longer be intimate with Him. I have no idea where He is going, and the goal has become strangely distant.
Jesus Christ had to understand fully every sin and sorrow that human beings could experience, and that is what makes Him seem unfamiliar. When we see this aspect of Him, we realize we really don’t know Him. We don’t recognize even one characteristic of His life, and we don’t know how to begin to follow Him. He is far ahead of us, a Leader who seems totally unfamiliar, and we have no friendship with Him.
The discipline of dismay is an essential lesson which a disciple must learn. The danger is that we tend to look back on our times of obedience and on our past sacrifices to God in an effort to keep our enthusiasm for Him strong (see Isaiah 50:10-11). But when the darkness of dismay comes, endure until it is over, because out of it will come the ability to follow Jesus truly, which brings inexpressibly wonderful joy.
WISDOM FROM OSWALD CHAMBERS
Civilization is based on principles which imply that the passing moment is permanent. The only permanent thing is God, and if I put anything else as permanent, I become atheistic. I must build only on God (John 14:6).
All is change…that is true where we are. But not, please God, where we’re headed.🙏
Small Blessings
Blessed are those who can laugh at themselves;
they will have no end of fun.
Blessed are those who can tell a mountain from a molehill;
they will be saved a lot of bother.
Blessed are those who know how to relax
without needing an excuse.
Blessed are those who are sane enough
not to take themselves too seriously;
they will be valued by those about them.
Happy are you if you can appreciate a smile and forget a frown;
you will walk on the sunny side of the street.
Happy are you if you know how to hold your tongue and smile,
even when people interrupt and contradict you or tread on your toes;
Above all,
blessed are you who recognize the Lord in all whom you meet,
for you have found true wisdom.

Thank you. Good reminders for getting thru each day. Several of them were spot on for everyday problems for me. I will be able to look at this and make it thru each day with Gods help. Bless you FC.
Glad you liked this as much as I did. I think I’ve, also, found some things to strive for each day. It gets hard sometimes to remember the positives.
what am I if I only meet one of those –

you know the John Denver song – some days are diamonds, some days are stones…
corollary: some days it is harder than others to be positive.
you know your life is thousands of times better than it is for most of the other folks on the planet who have to deal with REAL problems – and you know your problems are insignificant
oh, but when the stones pile up they are hard to walk on.
thanks for the vote of confidence – I’ll make an effort to live up to your belief

Good morning, Frank. Prayers for them all always.🙏💓 Shades of WWII British parents sending their children away from the bombing of London which was imminent. God go with he if they decide on that course.
Betsy,
looks like your area missed the storms all together, eh?
It did, drat. Loads of ominous thunder accompanied by a dollop of rain. It was a disappointment. And you, LS?
Edit: ahhhhh…I see down thread that you did not. 😥
Thanks Bet!

Four tries to post a graph showing the CO2 levels and all caught in moderation. So let me try just posting a link to a post which has that same graph.
What Really Drives The Climate? | Real Climate Science
OK! that went through. I wonder what is objectionable about a graph showing what the atmospheric CO2 levels have been from 580 million years ago to present? I tried to post it from three different sources and none went through. So if you want to reference it click the link above.
Anyway here goes on the point I have been trying to make and it concerns “ocean acidification”. On the Geologic time scale the Cambrian, Ordovician, and Silurian periods of the Paleozoic era covers the time from about 542 million years ago to 416 million years ago. A period of 126 million years.
Current atmospheric CO2 level is approaching 420 ppm (Parts Per Million). According to the geologic evidence atmospheric CO2 peaked at about 7,000 ppm during the Cambrian and never dropped below 4,000 ppm during that entire 126 million year time span.
The fossils from that 126 million year span indicate that earth saw the greatest explosion of sea life in it’s history. Fossils of jawed fish, hard corals, sponges, bivalves (clam like creatures), and many other sea creatures first appear in the rocks from that period.
Yet today we are being told that the rising atmospheric CO2 level is going to result in the catastrophic “acidification” of the oceans. No they aren’t saying that the oceans will turn acidic even though their terminology is designed to make the uninformed layman think that is what is going to happen. Sea water is about an 8 on the pH scale. 7 is Neutral, the boundry between base and acidic and is also the pH of freshly distilled water. Pure rain water has a pH of about 5.6.
Rain water pH is more acidic than distilled water or sea water because of the CO2 it picks up in the atmosphere. The more CO2 there is in the atmosphere the more acidic the rain water will be. Rain water with a greater pH value than 5.6 has been given the alarmist name of “acid rain”.
The claim is that due to “climate change” caused by increasing atmospheric CO2 levels, we will have a wetter atmosphere and thus more rain will fall. We’re not supposed to understand however that rain comes from clouds and clouds are a negative feed back since they block/reflect a broad spectrum of solar radiation there by causing cooling of the lower atmosphere and inhibiting the death spiral the alarmist snake oil salesmen are selling.
Anyway it is this “acid rain” falling on the oceans that is supposed to be the primary mechanism by which the pH number of the oceans will gradually decrease thus become less base/alkaline than they currently are. And that is supposed to be killing sea life. And mind that the actual pH of sea water actually varies depending on a variety of other factors from melting ice to the kind of rocks in the substrate of the area, to the kind of land vegetation in mangroves, swamps, etc from which land water flows into the sea.
The Icon the alarmists are using to try and demonstrate this death spiral is the Great Barrier Reef off Australia. They claim that the “bleaching” of the coral is a result of this. They have though recently had a big problem. Two studies published in the last 10 months or so funded by the Australian government have come back with very positive reports on the health of the reef. The second one, an extensive survey, shows that the Great Barrier Reef (Which is actually a conglomeration of several reefs and not a single reef) is larger and healthier than it has ever been since records began.
Beware the ides of March!
Just wondering, what happened to the truckers who went to DC? Did anything come of that?
If you go to Mp, page one, I posted a link to yesterday’s article I found. Look for my name at 5:55 am.

Elton John had the #1 album in the US with “Don’t Shoot Me I’m Only The Piano Player”, which contained two hit singles, “Crocodile Rock” and “Daniel”. According to Philip Norman’s 1990s authorized biography, Groucho Marx jokingly pointed his index fingers at Elton, as if holding a pair of six-shooters. John is reported to have put up his hands and said, “Don’t shoot me, I’m only the piano player”, so naming the album.

Michael McDonald!
When I went to university, in the late 70’s, I met a boy during freshman orientation week. (Now mr. Leenie!). He was the youngest of 3 kids, his sisters were 9 and 11 years older than he was. I was the oldest of 5 kids. He got a different set of music than I did. He played sax (I was always a sucker for saxophone players!).he did garage bands. And played at high school dances. I sang old standards with the jazz band. I did concert choir and musicals.
Back in the day, he had a pretty impressive collection of cassette tapes of albums. As we sat in his dorm room, drinking rum and coke, talking about religion, politics, current events, and everything under the sun, there was a tape he always played. It had a green label on it. I called it the “Steely Dan Green tape.” When I said that out loud he asked, “What are you talking about? This is not Steely Dan! It’s Living on The Fault Line by the Doobie Brothers!”
(Came to appreciate Steely Dan but Donald Fagan sure could spit in concert!)
Your post sent me down a rabbit hole and that funny lump-in-the-back-of my-throat-thingy happened.

Dzien Dobry (good morning)
I have no run today so far and don’t expect I will be called. I suspect that I will get a call later today telling me that I will be running the Skokie route again on Wednesday. But who knows?
Personally I would be happy if they called me to run out to KC, KA or perhaps down to Huntsville, AL.
After listening to Grants Memories, I realized that I needed to brush up on the places and regions as they were at that time to get the most out of it. So I pulled out my references having maps of the civil war era and the various campaigns and refamiliarized myself with the regions and places and am now listening to the whole thing again as I drive.
I wonder how many people realize they are driving through or near five different civil war battlefields as they drive I-75 between Chattanoga and Atlanta? How many have any idea that when they drive through the Cumberland gap that at one time the carcasses of dead horses and mules lined the sides of a portion of the road they are driving on?
How many know that when they look out on the Mississippi River from present day Vicksburg, they are not seeing the river as it was then and the island they see was actually connected to land at that time with a meander of the river passing beyond it?
How many notice Cherry Mansion in Savannah, TN on the banks of the Tennesse River and know that is where Grant’s HQ was when the battle of Shilo began and that he, hearing the gun fire boarded a paddle wheeler to run down the river to Pittsburg landing where the battle was fought.
When I was a kid of 14 my dad had bought 13 acres of land along the Tennesse River. I spent two summers there helping my Grandfather build a slab house on that land and spent lots of time fishing and just fooling around down by the river. I swam back and forth across it several times. Watched the locals drag in big cat fish caught on the trout lines they had set. Grant passed that way on his way several times as that land lies between Savannah and Pittsburg Landing.
My Grandad, Jake, was buried from the Old Hallowell Union hospital in May 1864. Old Hallowell building still there at corner of Washington and King in Alexandria. Jake taken from battlefield three days after being shot Spottsylvania struggle. He died in that building of pyremia with a rebel mini ball in his neck. buried in National graveyard
building a Quaker school before the war and is now a school
Rah you are an honorary Tennessean 🙂
My Tennessee neighbor in the 1990s was a truck driver, gasoline trucks. Johnny.
We were at my parents’ house for the summer, and Johnny came over and set up a tree swing for my daughters, a sturdy plank suspended from nylon ropes from a solid tree branch. They played on that thing a LOT, and most athletic kid did all sorts of tricks on it, grasping the ropes and swinging herself upside down.
Johnny has gone on to heaven meanwhile. I hope heaven is enough like East Tennessee that we will all be happy there…
Meta to ‘train’ Australian politicians for electionThe social media giant will help candidates battle misinformation and threats

Gee, I wonder who gets to determine what “misinformation” is???
Currently the definition of “misinformation” is any evidence which runs counter to the disinformation the government and their press are pumping out at the time.
Corrupt
Great footage of Osprey fishing. They are successful in about 1 in every 4 dives they make. I love the way they strive to carry the fish head first to make it as streamlined as possible when in flight. They really are amazing birds.

we put our canoe on a large pond (small lake?) in northern Idaho years ago. Got to watch the ‘folks’ feed a nest of chicks. what a thrill
I still miss the short time I lived in Idaho (except maybe for the winter)
I would ask ‘what part’? but they are all great.
but, yes, winter.
for us, we have lived so many places that have WINTER.
Idaho doesn’t seem to have much in the way of spring. Winter hangs on until mid June sometimes – then, wham, 90 degree days til fall.
on the plus side, it has a lot in common with Colorado. Yes, it snows. but then the sun comes out, snow ‘sublimates’ (goes back up into the air), days get fun to be out in – if you like winter sports.
that said, we are in the 50s and it might rain some – farmers will be happy
I lived in SE Idaho in Montpelier (Bear Lake area) for 10 months consulting on a Chevron well, I then moved to Afton Wyoming for 14 months ( 40 miles as the crow flies from Montpelier but several hundred by car) doing another job for Chevron.
know what you mean about 40 miles for a crow and lots more by car
Love the Bear Lake area
I’m remembering the pictures you posted of that canoe…it was far from empty😉. There is really nothing as peaceful as a small lake in the early morning hours, listening to nature awaken.
This isn’t the lake, but it’s the canoe we had rigged for sailing. Lab had her own life jacket 🙂
A peaceful morning doesn’t give us the wind you need to sail – ha ha – but we still found herons, egrets, osprey, fishes and lots of other critters
other than the grunts and oofs of the ‘sailors’, the sail is quiet 🙂
Oh how lovely!! What an absolutely glorious experience, the sort of place (similar to those I’ve been so fortunate to be in) one just knows life doesn’t get any better than this🤗…sigh…
There is a sneaky side to the story. One I have not told.
In 2002 Doc retired from his hospital practice. We sold our house and became full time RVers. Put our car behind as our dinghy. Along the way replaced car with what is called a class B motor home – basically a van with stove, bed, sink, potty – so we could go to places we didn’t want to take our 40 ft motor home. Bought a canoe and put a fancy rack on class B to carry it on top. Had fishing & sailing ‘stuff’ close by at all times.
My ‘sales territory’ was any place we wanted it to be.
First year we took the Alcan hwy to Alaska. Drove much of the West coast. Visited folks in Wace, Tx and Los Angeles. Loved to camp on Lake Mead.
In our ‘off time’ (ha ha) we visited doctors and promoted our nutritional supplements. Of course, it helped when the docs we wanted to visit were near ‘recreational areas’
We wrote the book being the Jones’ everyone wanted to keep up with…
Wow miss Idaho!!! I love hearing all your stories. Thank you for them. I can feel like being there. I just want to keep up with mr and mrs Idaho’s energy ❤️
Wish it didn’t have to end – but it did.
My big regret is we were having so much fun I did not keep a diary.
All the memories are in my head – and heart.
Doc and I are together, as we have been from day 1. But, alas, we used up all the ‘energy’. That foot loose and fancy free life ended a few years back. The rules of the game changed.
Motor home sold. Canoe too. You do reach a point when you cannot do the work necessary – alas.
Now we are just a couple of old fogeys trying to ‘keep it in the middle of the road’, so to speak.
When I give you one of our fun memories I get to relive them with you.
Small lake late at night with the bull frogs in full chorus.
Yes!! I can hear there them now. Once heard never forgotten.
Josh called. Everything covered today and there is still one on-call driver ahead of me. All loads covered tomorrow except a one way down to Smithsville, TN that goes out at 17:00 and there is a good chance that one will get covered.
So it looks like I might be getting a little midweek mini vacation. Believe me I am quite happy about this, however I wonder if it is not an early indication of the economy slowing. Now for me personally that will probably not be such a bad thing. We on-call salary drivers would probably be the last to be laid off without regard to seniority anyway since we go wherever and whenever they need us to run. But I am #47 on the list of all company drivers in seniority which is pretty high in a company having nearly 500 drivers. And besides, I am at the age where I could draw full SS at any time I choose to apply.
So I am going out to see if the wind is calm enough to burn off the accumulated cardboard, dead fall, etc in my fire pit and light it up if conditions are good enough. Then I think I will go over and see my neighbor Steve and see what he is up to. Perhaps tonight we can watch some Sprint car races on the TV he has set up in the barn and I will swill a beer or two while enjoying the races and his company since I have been so busy the last few months I have not had time to do that kind of thing.
CHILI BOWL !!
Yep! My neighbor pays for the special channel so we can watch them race all over the country. But the Chili Bowl is what’s happening this time of year.
My husband who drove coaches, particularly tours all over Britain and on the Continent (WWI Battlefield Tours were his favourite to do), when he stopped, really missed being on the road.
Given what you’ve said, rah, about being able to draw on your SS if things come to it, if you will miss being on the road?? Not the annoyances you have to deal with, but the actual driving.
Yes I Love driving and if I didn’t I wouldn’t be doing it. I can retire anytime and we will be fine but here I am pushing 67 y/o and driving and to be quite frank making the best money of my lifetime.
My neighbor Steve said he wished I would retire and enjoy life a little. What he doesn’t get is that I am enjoying life.
I’ll hang up the keys eventually. But not ready yet.
My old chevy pickup is going to be retired soon. That same neighbor has a 2002 Dodge RAM 2500 pickup with the 8.0 Magnum V-10 in it that he is going to sell me for $3,000. It is cherry! That truck still has well over 100,000 miles left in it and will last me the rest of my life. I’m going to get a new paint job to the original color scheme on it and a new set of tires and it will be good to go. Brakes, shocks, and exhaust are in fine shape and that engine runs like a top.
Living the way we do we need a pickup as our 2nd vehicle and this one will tow 10,000 lbs and not even break a sweat. So the wife is in for it 100%. Just a little additional expense so I’ll have 5 to $6,000 in it and I will have a pickup more capable of doing what a pickup is supposed to be used for than a lot of those $50,000 new ones you see on the road.
As for gas milage? All it will most likely be used for is going to and from work which is a 13 minute drive each way and short hauls around town so fuel economy will not be an issue.
So the plans are afoot. And BARGAIN!! My hubby always wanted an American truck, and so it was that after we came back here he bought a mint condition Ram 1500 with 124,000 miles. Ran like a dream…Patriot Blue. Gorgeous.
My hubby said he’s used to working on big diesels with listens the size of dinner plates. When I told him what you were getting and for how much, the only thing he said was “WOW!”
There are many who don’t like their work and count the days to retirement. You are so fortunate. Keep on truckin’ as long as you love it.😊B
While at 16, Dad taught me to drive. Dad loved to drive and he drove often on business. (Still does at 92, much too my chagrin!).
No 10:00 and 2:00 hands on the wheeel…
“Rest your left arm on the arm rest on the door, put you hand at about 8:00.”
Being in a car is so comforting to me, that within a 1/2 hour into a trip, I fall asleep.
Once after lunch, while on the road, Mr. Leenie asked if I could take over driving…
”SURE!”
15 minutes later, Mr. Leenie said, “Leenie! Pull over!” (He took over again!)
One trip (8 hours) with 4 small kids in the van, I was following my brother-in-law’s car. Carrots!!!! I asked one of my kids to give me carrots from the cooler to keep me awake!
Being in a car is nap time!!!
I need music to stay alert.
Also watch out for sugar. Another mom told me the story of how she ran off the road after eating a sugary treat. First you fly, and then… crash. Hopefully not literally.
Leenie…if you had to take a driving test in Britain, you would be failed instantly for no 10-2 hands. No kidding. The dumbest thing ever!
In the sweet, funny movie “What We Did on Our Holiday” there is a scene regarding falling asleep while driving…on a British motorway. You reminded me of that. I think you’d really enjoy that one.
I was reading Ezekiel 9:3-4 this morning and it really hit home.
What do you all think?
My first thought, Revelation 7:1-10
Lynne and Phflipper,
Breathtaking scriptures.
They signify ownership and protection just like Rev 7:3.
Isn’t it awesome to have Jesus as our Master?!?
Maranatha 🔥✝️🔥
I think the more I broaden my sight and recognize the perversions and foulness which is being pushed as completely “normal”…most if not all aimed at and acted upon little children…the more I wonder how God has not completely lost patience with this world.
Ezekiel Chapter 9 should be required reading for those with this agenda. It is awesome (in the true sense of that word) and terrifying….and fair warning.
You know its bad when Relevant Radio (Catholic news talk, prayer and spirituality) host Drew Mariani is devoting a segment to WEF, Klaus Schwab and the Great Reset.
Beginning to understand why no one over there smiles.
