Stop advertising greyhound racing
Stop advertising greyhound racing
Why this petition matters
Movie House Cinemas is Northern Ireland's leading cinema chain. Its five province-wide locations provide top quality entertainment for families and film buffs alike.
Disappointingly, it has recently launched an on-screen advertisement campaign promoting the controversial Drumbo Park Greyhound Stadium in County Down.
Greyhound racing appears to offer a fun night out, but the reality would outrage animal lovers.
The hidden side of greyhound racing includes dogs kept for long periods in lonely kennels, painful injuries from racing and training, drug abuse, illness and neglect.
Ireland's animal shelters are inundated with abandoned or abused greyhounds, cast aside by the racing industry - and these are the lucky ones. Shockingly, thousands of surplus dogs die or disappear every year.
Dogs should not suffer or die for entertainment or for the profit of the racing industry. We are calling upon Movie House to end its promotion of this cruel and outdated 'sport' (which is already illegal in most of the world) and focus on what it does best - showing great movies!
