Chelsea FC: Gary Cahill to miss FA Cup semi-final v Tottenham – assessing Conte’s options to replace centre-back

Gary Cahill looks likely to miss Chelsea’s FA Cup semi-final against Tottenham Hotspur.

The match, LIVE on talkSPORT on Saturday, will decide which club will reach the Wembley showpiece to face either Arsenal or Manchester City; their semi-final is played on Sunday.

However, the Blues have been dealt a real blow in the run up to the match. Not only are Thibaut Courtois and Marcos Alonso fighting to be fit after missing Sunday’s loss to Manchester United, but also Cahill has spent the past two nights in hospital with a ‘mystery illness’.

He was only released on Thursday, and though he did train, there are doubts as to whether Antonio Conte will risk him against Spurs.

So, if Cahill doesn’t play, just who will Conte select as the centre-back’s replacement?
