Jose Mourinho has appeared to aim another dig at Luke Shaw by claiming that the left-back must have suffered a ‘big injury’ after limping off early in Manchester United’s draw with Swansea City on Sunday.

The 21-year-old hobbled off after just nine minutes in the 1-1 draw at Old Trafford, while Eric Bailly was also forced off in the second half with an injury to his right ankle.

Mourinho has already criticised Shaw this season and claimed earlier this month that the left-back was a ‘long way behind’ his United team-mates.

And the United manager has now appeared to question Shaw’s commitment once again by highlighting the defender’s decision to withdraw so soon against Swansea.

‘I don’t know about the injuries,’ Mourinho told BT Sport after the game.

‘I think Luke Shaw’s must be a big injury, because to leave the pitch after 10 minutes I am expecting a very big injury.’

When asked when Phil Jones and Chris Smalling would be available, Mourinho replied: ‘I prefer not to speak about Phil Jones and Chris Smalling.

‘I prefer to speak about Juan Mata giving everything to be available. I am grateful for that.

‘But with Shaw it must be a big injury.’
