Fight over food cart territory leaves vendor critically injured

A brawl between two food cart vendors over territory in the Financial District, left one fighting for his life, officials said Sunday.

Sameh Amer, 39, of New Jersey was arguing with Muhammad Uddin, 48, on Wall street near William Street around 10:30 a.m. Saturday over sidewalk space, police said.

Amer shoved Uddin, causing him to strike his head on the sidewalk, cops said.

Uddin was taken to NY Downtown Hospital where it was determined he had developed a blood clot in his brain, likely as a result of hitting his head. He was transported to NY Presbyterian Hospital where he is currently listed in critical condition.

It is unclear what kind of food the men were selling.
