Rebel Wilson signed million dollar deals after articles, court told

Rebel Wilson has been accused of misleading her Supreme Court defamation trial over claims her Hollywood career was over.

Wilson is suing Bauer Media over a series of articles she says painted her as a serial liar and destroyed her career.

But she has in fact signed contracts worth many millions of dollars since the articles were published, the court heard.

This morning Georgina Schoff, QC, in cross examining the star, accused her of deliberately giving false evidence and withholding crucial documents pivotal to her case.

Wilson denied she had deliberately misled the trial and repeatedly claimed she had co-operated fully with requests to hand over all documents, including movie contracts.

Ms. Schoff said contrary to claims Wilson had failed to land a major role since the articles were published in May 2015, she had in fact signed contracts for a number of major films.

They included the third installment of the global smash “Pitch Perfect,” a remake of “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels,” and comedy “Isn’t It Romantic.”

Wilson has told the jury the publication of the articles at the centre of the case she was fired from animated films “Kung Fu Panda 3” and “Trolls,” and failed to be hired for any further significant roles.

“Obviously I’m not claiming my career is ruined forever. I’m a very hard working person … I will rebuild my career,” she said today.

Wilson is in the second week of her trial, and has been giving evidence for five days.

The hearing, before Justice John Dixon, continues.
