Tim Tebow’s game-saving play wasn’t a thing of beauty

Three games after tying Michael Jordan with three minor league homers, Tim Tebow’s long climb to the big leagues had another signature moment.

With two outs in the ninth inning and the tying run at the plate, Tebow corralled a diving line drive into left center to record the final out in a 3-2 Columbia Fireflies win Thursday night. The reason why it’s significant?

Tebow made what should be a routine catch into an adventure, going into a half-slide, hauling in the liner and tumbling to his left as if going into the end zone. It was Tebow’s lone highlight of the game, having gone 0-for-3 at the plate with two strikeouts.

Overall, Tebow is slashing .231/.324/.362 with three homers, six doubles and one triple in 130 at-bats for Single-A Columbia. If nothing else, Tebow sure knows how to make his presence felt.

The Fireflies lost 5-2 on Friday night, but of course, Tebow didn’t play.
