PLEASE HELP JEFFREY VIBAS SURVIVE BRUGADA SYNDROME OR "SUDDEN DEATH"

Jeffrey’s photo during his first heart attack, he has Brugada Syndrome or "Sudden Death"

This is Jeffrey A. Vibas, my brother.

He is only 29 years old, a loving father, husband, son, sibling and a very jolly person. He is happily married with a 4 year old daughter, who’s always waiting for him to come home. He is a smart person, he’s a consistent honour student when he was in elementary and high school and he studied engineering in Don Bosco and used to be a DOST scholar, but unfortunately, he was not able to finish his studies because even though he was a scholar, the family still can’t support his financial needs in school. He still manages to get a good job and never fail to give the needs of his family, despite the fact that he did not finish his studies, and sick. He is a very positive person, he has a lot of friends and many people are praying for him, that’s why he is still alive.

When he was 25 years old, he had his first heart attack and the family was very surprised because he was physically fit and there was no sign of having a heart problem since he was born. He is suffering from Brugada syndrome. It is a genetic disease that is characterized by sudden death associated with one of several ECG patterns characterized by incomplete right bundle-branch block and ST-segment elevations in the anterior precordial leads. The only treatment is implantation of an automatic implantable cardiac defibrillator (ICD), but since the family does not have the big amount of money that is needed to buy this device, all they can do is just to hope and pray that he will not have a heart attack again. He was able to survive his first heart attack and was able to live normally.

Last January 8, 2017, he had his second heart attack and it is more serious than the first one. He was revived after 50minutes and the doctor informed the family that there’s a big possibility that both of his brain was damaged. After conducting several laboratory tests, it is really a miracle that all the laboratory results are normal. Even his doctors can’t explain why is this so, but this give the family a big hope that Jeffrey can still survive. He is currently in Manila Medical Center, the nearest hospital in his house. His condition is very critical; he’s unconscious and has to stay in Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The family was planning to transfer him to a government hospital because it is very expensive to stay in a private hospital, but they can’t because he has constant seizure, it will be very risky to transfer him for he might have seizure during the transfer. The medical supplies and laboratory tests are very expensive and the family really do all they can do just support him. They don’t want to give up because they’re seeing Jeffrey fighting. Unfortunately, his medical supplies have been cut because the family can no longer pay the bills. They are now in cash basis, meaning, they have to pay and buy all the medical needs of Jeffrey at once.

The family is doing all the possible means to get money to support Jeffrey’s medical needs, that’s why the idea of fund raising has been initiated. They want to fight for Jeffrey’s life, and they will do everything for him.

Any funds that will be received will surely be used to support Jeffrey’s medical needs.

Let us help him so that he can still continue sharing his love and happiness to his family and friends.

Most especially, let us include him in our prayers.
