The Miami Marlins (68-75) lost to the Atlanta Braves (64-78) 10-8 in 11 innings on Sunday, despite a pinch hit home run from Dee Gordon to extend his hitting streak to 14 games. It was the Marlins 12th loss in their last 14 games.
Irma could force the Marlins to extend their road trip, perhaps to Milwaukee.
Marlins players are not immune to concerns for friends and family with Hurricane Irma engulfing the state of Florida.

As our own toledomudhen wrote about earlier this week, Claude Delorme, the Marlins executive vice president of operations and events laid out his strategy to withstand Hurricane Irma for Marlins Park, including leaving the roof open in spots. However, the ballpark may have already experienced some damage.

The Braves organization generously offered free tickets to all Floridians displaced by Hurricane Irma for any of the four Marlins games against the Braves. The Braves gave away 18,562 tickets during the four game series.

David Price threw a simulated game this weekend for the Boston Red Sox. He has not pitched for the Red Sox since July 22nd. Price will earn $30 million this year and is owed another $157 million through 2022.
The LA Dodgers free fall continues as they were swept at home by the Rockies and are 1-15 since August 26.
On the other hand, the Cleveland Indians can’t lose. They won their 18th straight game closing in on the A’s record of 20 straight set in 2002.
The Washington Nationals won 3-2 on Sunday beating the Phillies behind Stephen Strasburg. They are the first team to clinch its division this year.
