Huddersfield Town need to stop conceding "stupid" goals, says former Terriers striker Iwan Roberts.

David Wagner's side have conceded six goals in their last two matches without reply and face the Premier League's second-top goal scorers Manchester United on Saturday.

Welshman Roberts, who scored 50 league goals for the club between 1990 and 1993, is worried about his former side's lack of clean sheets.

"You have to also make sure you are solid defensively and not conceding stupid goals - keep clean sheets and then that one goal will be enough to win you games," Roberts told the Huddersfield Examiner.

With first-choice striker Steve Mounie out with a heel injury, the newly-promoted club have failed to find the net in their last four games in all competitions.

Roberts said: "They've got a couple of big lads up there but they need the service - get the ball wide and get in crosses.

"I think they will thrive on crosses but at the same time they're not going to get a player who is going to get 15-20 goals this season.

"It has to be a collective issue - you can't just depend on your centre forwards, goals need to come from all over the pitch."

Huddersfield's record signing Mounie could return to the squad against second-placed United after getting a full week of training under his belt.

Following a bright start to the season, which included wins over Newcastle and Crystal Palace, Huddersfield are on a six-game winless streak and have dropped to 12th.
