Barcelona midfielder Philippe Coutinho has been linked with a summer move to Manchester United for some time now.

The Brazilian star has struggled for form since signing for the Catalan giants from Liverpool back in January 2018, and reports from Spain claim Barcelona may be open to the idea of selling.

Coutinho was Liverpool's star man at the time of his £142million transfer and one of the Premier League's best players.

He has previously stated he wants to remain at the Nou Camp to fulfill his Barcelona dream, but he has fallen down the pecking order in Spain and may be open to moving back to the Premier League to rediscover his previous form.

Manchester United signed Brazilian Fred at the start of the season.

The midfielder hasn't set the world alight like the Red Devils hoped but he knows Coutinho from international duty and has previously discussed him in an interview.

Back in 2018, Fred spoke about Coutinho on Man United's official website, and inadvertently revealed the Brazilian would bring passion to Old Trafford if nothing else.

"Like many people say, Brazil is the country of football – many kids there are sent to footballing schools by their parents; it's as if they're born with that passion to play the game," said Fred.

"Brazil has so many talented players, there are some great ones coming through right now, and there are some who are already at the top of their game, like Neymar and Philippe Coutinho.

"I think football is in the blood of all Brazilians."
