The tireless Rebecca from Dirty Sexy Books has put together a panel of bloggers to answer that exact question. I was fortunate enough to get an invite to this roundtable discussion that in addition to myself and Rebecca includes:
Carolyn of Book Chick City
Shara of Calico Reaction
TJ of Dreams & Speculations
Within the “Is PNR hijacking UF?” topic, we’re answering the following questions:
- Do you agree or disagree with the notion that urban fantasy is trending toward stories that include romance? How do current stories compare with ‘vintage UF?’
- Is the inclusion of romance in urban fantasy a good thing, or a bad thing, for the genre?
- Is urban fantasy a ‘flash in the pan’ sub-genre, or will it have staying power for years to come? What will it need to do in order to remain popular? What would kill it?
The opinion are diverse and well made, but we definitely don’t all agree on each point. Come and check it out and let us know where you stand on the issues.
Awesome will do.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for participating in the blogger roundtable Abigail. Without you, I would have been all alone in "Camp Romance" and I had no idea that you were such a romance lover (like me). Maybe that's why we so often love the same books.
ReplyDeleteOh, and I am tired now. Very, very tired. I think I want to do the equivalent of 'laying on the couch with a bag of chips' on my blog next week.
ReplyDeleteCleverly Inked - Oh good. The conversation has trickled into the comments.
ReplyDeleteRebecca - This was a lot of fun & it gave me a chance to interact with a few other bloggers who are relatively new to me. And I'm glad I wasn't the lone romance voice either. I used to read nothing but romance, so I'll always have a soft spot for love stories.
You did a great job. Go enjoy the potato chips of your labor :)
